This concert of Armenian and Armenian-American music celebrates the generation
born between 1903 and 1917: Khachaturian living in Moscow, Hovhaness in Seattle,
and Yardumian in Philadelphia; and two generations of brilliant composers now
living in Yerevan.
The Jacaranda-commissioned arrangement of Armenian Suite restores
an important piece of cultural history to the concert stage One of
its movements became the radio theme music for Voice of America behind
the Iron Curtain in the 1950s. |
